Summary Description
- Responsible for overseeing all providing legal advice and interpretations, assessing legal risks.
- Drafting/examining agreements and contracts, guiding litigation and other general legal assistance to all levels of company personnel
- Provide comprehensive legal counsel and guidance to the organization including legal compliance.
- Responsible for assigned contracts in general on reviewing, dispute management, managing administrative legal actions, providing legal advice and interpretations, managing outside counsel, performing project work for new business.
Role & Responsibilities
[Strategic Leadership]
- Develop and implement the legal strategy aligned with the Hyundai and RHQ’s business goals
- Oversee the legal department’s budget and resources
[Legal Counsel and Advisory]
- Provide strategic legal counsel on a wide range of legal matters, including distributorship agreement, litigation, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Manage external counsel relationships and optimize legal spend
[Contract Management]
- Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of complex commercial contracts
- Develop and implement contract management processes and systems
[Litigation Management]
- Manage and oversee litigation matters, including pre-litigation strategies, discovery, and trial preparation
- Develop and implement litigation prevention strategies
- Work closely with external counsel to achieve optimal outcomes
[Risk Management]
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and business risks
- Conduct regular risk assessments and provide recommendations to management
Authority
- Independently manage assigned legal matters, contracts, and disputes within approved frameworks.
- Recommend legal positions, risk mitigation actions, and settlement approaches to the General Counsel.
- Escalate high-risk, precedent-setting, or material matters to the General Counsel without delay.
Job requirements
[Education/Certification]
- Bachelor’s degree or higher; a major in Law is preferred
- Legal qualification or bar admission is a must
[Experience]
- Experience in an in-house legal team is preferred.
- Exposure to litigation and/or legal advisory work in the U.A.E is an advantage.
- Experience related to data protection or data privacy matters is a plus.
- Prior experience with distributor or agency agreements is a plus.
- Experience in the automotive industry is considered an additional advantage.
